Jovia extends Zero Trust protection everywhere, from branch to users to apps

SUMMARY

Jovia Financial Credit Union, serving New York for over 85 years, prioritizes financial freedom for members through innovation. The organization champions adoption of cloud services, SaaS applications and other transformational initiatives to improve member services. This extends to the credit union’s approach to cybersecurity: building trust with customers and meeting strict regulatory and compliance requirements. As Jovia has grown, its leaders have sought to modernize its network security infrastructure, from the data center to branch locations to the cloud, to secure all users, apps and devices.

SOLUTIONS

Jovia’s branch modernization journey began when the organization saw an opportunity to upgrade its connectivity to be more resilient, high-performing and secure. As the company was already a Palo Alto Networks customer, relying on Next-Generation Hardware and Software Firewalls for network security, it was a natural choice to select Prisma SD-WAN to improve connectivity and performance for its branch locations. The solution eliminated problems with outages at its branches statewide while delivering Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) security. Jovia also retired several networking point solutions, such as for WAN optimization, which resulted in significant savings.

To further enhance its security posture, Jovia is deploying Prisma Access to over 600 employees. This will enable secure remote access to apps and data and further extend Zero Trust protection across the organization. The deployment will allow Jovia to benefit from a SASE architecture and an integrated platform approach across its firewalls, SD-WAN and remote access solutions.

Jovia also deployed Enterprise Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and SaaS Security to protect sensitive data and cloud workloads. The combination gave the company not just more granular visibility but also the capacity to actively prevent loss of sensitive data. David Linares, Sr. Infrastructure Manager, notes, “Most DLP tools just alert, without the power to enforce. Now we can actually prevent data loss.”

The company also adopted solutions to improve its network security operation and better address user experiences. Rolling out Autonomous Digital Experience Management (ADEM) has given the company real-time insight into network performance, enabling helpdesk teams to quickly diagnose and resolve connectivity issues for remote users. Using Strata Cloud Manager (SCM) has dramatically simplified operations, improved security policy management, and boosted visibility. Linares observes that SCM “has become our bread and butter” for its capacity to consolidate over 30 tools down to just one screen.

More recently, Jovia has begun adding Strata Copilot, leveraging the power of AI to discover opportunities to fine-tune its network security infrastructure while driving greater automation. Together, the products in Palo Alto Networks platform have transformed network security at Jovia. Linares notes, “I can firmly say that today we feel a lot better about our security posture.”

“Our partnership with Palo Alto Networks marks a significant step forward in our commitment to a robust and secure network infrastructure.”
