New cloud location delivers direct and high-performance access to industry-leading zero trust cybersecurity platforms
SANTA CLARA, Calif. and DOHA, January 11, 2024 – Palo Alto Networks (NYSE: PANW), the global cybersecurity leader, today announced the launch of a new cloud location in Qatar to provide local and high-performance access to the full suite of Palo Alto Networks® industry-leading cybersecurity capabilities to Qatari and regional customers in the Middle East.
His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, Qatar's Minister of Communications and Information Technology, expressed his excitement about Palo Alto Networks strategic decision to increase its investment in Qatar. He highlighted the significance of this step in enhancing Qatar's cybersecurity investment. “This new on-site cloud infrastructure reinforces our digital capabilities and provides our residents with direct and high-performance access to cutting-edge cloud-based cybersecurity. It’s an important element in our efforts to remain vigilant and stay at the forefront of the rapidly evolving digital landscape."
“Qatar's ambitious digital transformation strategy will underpin every aspect of the country’s National Vision 2030 development plan, which includes ambitious goals for economic, social, and environmental development,” said Helmut Reisinger, CEO EMEA and LATAM for Palo Alto Networks. “As Qatar embraces new technologies and becomes a leader in the global digital economy, our investment in a dedicated cloud infrastructure will give organizations in Qatar and across the region fast and local access to our world-class AI-powered cybersecurity platforms that will help protect and enable Qatar's digital future.”
The availability of the regionally hosted services is part of Palo Alto Networks ongoing commitment to deliver the most complete set of security services for customers in Qatar and regionally. These services enable customers to balance their data privacy needs with the ability to detect emerging threats, providing a seamless, streamlined security solution operated and delivered within Qatar.
The new cloud location will give customers domestic, high-performance access to:
Prisma® Access: Prisma Access is the security service edge (SSE) solution of Prisma SASE, the industry’s most complete SASE solution that delivers consistent security to all users—at headquarters, office branches, and on the road— when using internet, cloud and data centre applications. With a domestic cloud footprint, Qatari customers can bring Zero Trust security to the hybrid workforce with the lowest latency and highest performance in the industry.
Cortex XDR®: Cortex XDR is the industry’s first extended detection and response platform, which integrates endpoint, network and cloud data to stop sophisticated attacks through state-of-the-art AI and analytics. With the new Qatari cloud infrastructure, customers can process logs and perform analytics in Qatar.
Cortex XSOAR®: Customers can fully transform their security operations with scalable, automated workflows, extensive integrations and end-to-end incident lifecycle management to speed incident response and increase operational efficiencies. Cortex XSOAR’s cloud-native SaaS environment – also offered as on-premise deployment – can be rapidly deployed for instant ROI.
Cortex XSIAM®: Palo Alto Networks has launched its automation-first platform for the modern SOC, harnessing the power of machine intelligence to radically improve security outcomes and transform security operations. With Cortex XSIAM, Qatari customers can now accelerate their SOC transformation while satisfying data processing preferences.
Cortex® Xpanse™: Cortex Xpanse is an active attack surface management solution that helps customers proactively shrink their attack surface to secure their organization. The move to hybrid work and the cloud has scattered customers’ IT infrastructure, exposing gaps in their security and IT estate. Utilising AI-powered playbooks, attack surface management (ASM) actively discovers, learns and responds to your unknown risks in all connected systems and exposed services, reducing the risk of successful cyberattacks.
Advanced WildFire: Customers can fully utilise the industry’s largest malware prevention engine while ensuring that files submitted for analysis are processed in Qatar. Advanced WildFire can be leveraged by the Palo Alto Networks Zero Trust Network Security Platform (i.e. Prisma SASE, ML-Powered Next-Generation Firewalls and VM-/CN-Series software firewalls) and Cortex XDR, which secure a world where any user can work anywhere without restrictions, as well as by third-party products via API.
Cortex Data Lake: Customers can collect, transform and integrate their enterprise's security data to enable Palo Alto Networks solutions while data logs are stored locally.
Cloud Identity Engine: The Cloud Identity Engine is the backbone of identity across the Palo Alto Networks platform. With the Cloud Identity Engine, administrators are provided with a simplified integration point for directory synchronization, a cloud authentication service powering GlobalProtect and the Captive Portal, as well as a much-simplified identity redistribution architecture.
With this investment in Qatar, Palo Alto Networks now simplifies security compliance with local cloud security infrastructures in more than 76 countries worldwide.
