In 2015, Palo Alto Networks and the New York Stock Exchange organized a collection of essays designed to educate and enlighten board members about cybersecurity. We called it Navigating the Digital Age. Before publication, technical authors published large volumes of books written specifically for the cybersecurity professional, but there was very little material written for directors and board members in charge of their own changing organizations in the public, private, and academic spaces.
Over the past decade, the internet transformed their brick and mortar businesses into digital machines, and the senior leaders in charge of those businesses were struggling with how to keep pace with so much technological change. Navigating the Digital Age was one of the first collections that directors could use to learn about running an organization in the new era and how to think about security. It was a runaway success, and here in 2018, I am proud to announce the second edition of Navigating the Digital Age: The Definitive Cybersecurity Guide for Directors and Officers.
This new collection covers a lot of ground. It is not meant to be read front to back, though every essay contained herein is necessary. It is a book that I suggest keeping handy on your desk, your tablet or laptop – these are topics to absorb and topics to which to return again and again. The book consists of many short essays from some of the best cybersecurity and business minds in the world, a few of which follow.
