We are committed to executing a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy that
is fair and equitable across our global employee base. We conduct an annual analysis through external
independent compensation consultants and review total compensation, which includes salary, bonus and
equity.
Our fairness and equity analysis includes gender for all global employees and race and ethnicity for
employees in the U.S. As a result of these measures and corrections, our employees are paid fairly and
equitably regardless of race/ethnicity (U.S.) or gender (global).

The Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) is the largest industry coalition dedicated to corporate responsibility in supply chains. Members, suppliers and stakeholders collaborate to improve working and environmental conditions as well as business performance through leading standards and practices. We view membership as a foundational component of our approach to corporate responsibility.
Our suppliers should be a reflection of the communities where we do business and the customers who find value in our products. To that end, our goal is to grow and expand our partnerships with companies throughout the value chain—particularly minority- and women-owned enterprises.
We have conducted an internal review of existing suppliers to establish a
baseline
for growth and established a working group to benchmark our supplier diversity
programs. We know that our journey to diversify our supply chain will evolve
over
time, and we are committed to making progress and increasing our outreach.

Actions we take must be immediate, grounded in data, with science as the guardrails to sound strategies. Just as we partner with others to address global cybersecurity challenges, we recognize the value of joining forces to address the climate crisis. Palo Alto Networks is actively involved in the following coalitions and advocates for environmental stewardship:
Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders: The Alliance is a global community of business leaders who use their position and influence to drive bold, corporate climate action. Members set ambitious targets, actively seek to reduce emissions within their own businesses, and in doing so, inspire other companies to do the same.
We Mean Business: This global nonprofit coalition works with the world's most influential businesses to take action on climate change.
The Climate Pledge: We've made a pledge to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2040. Companies and organizations that sign the pledge agree to regular reporting on greenhouse gas emissions, carbon elimination through business change and innovations, and credible offsets to neutralize any remaining emissions to achieve net zero annual carbon emissions by 2040.
Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi): The SBTi, a partnership between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), drives ambitious climate action in the private sector by enabling companies to set science-based emissions reduction targets. The SBTi call to action is one of the We Mean Business Coalition commitments.
Ceres Policy Network: Business for Innovative Climate and Energy Policy (BICEP): Founded in 2009, the Ceres BICEP Network helps companies voice their support for the policies our economy urgently needs to prevent the dire financial and material risks of the climate crisis, while unleashing new industries, jobs, and growth as part of the solution.
With a global workforce more than 12,500 strong, employees have a multiplier effect on climate impact. Through green teams active in all regions, we're able to increase awareness of eco-friendly behaviors that align with our climate commitment. From park and waterway cleanups to environmental information sessions or activities that focus on the intersection between the environment, recreation and wellbeing, green teams have a hands-on and meaningful impact around the globe.
They set out aiming for the distance from headquarters to our London office and ended up with the distance of a lap around the world! All because of our generous, caring, and determined employees.

The responsible use of technology is central to our vision of a world where each day is safer and more secure than the one before. As a cybersecurity leader, we see firsthand that the number of cyber threats is increasing as the security landscape becomes more and more complex. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated changes in how we learn, connect and socialize, and it exposed how some communities are more vulnerable than others to cybercrime.
Although many of our youth are native to digital environments, they can often lack security awareness and the habits needed to keep themselves safe online. Similarly, individuals who are adapting to the current digital landscape at their own pace, such as seniors, also find it challenging to navigate the internet safely. In addition to this, the cybersecurity industry continues to experience high demand for qualified, available and diverse talent in the workforce. At Palo Alto Networks, we are both deeply committed and uniquely positioned to address these challenges.
Through our various programs we provide free, high-quality, educational content and tools that demystify technical concepts, increase digital literacy, and cultivate generations of responsible digital citizens. At the same time, we also inspire youth and prepare young professionals to pursue future careers in cybersecurity while upskilling and diversify the workforce of today.
Our education programs align to our Inclusion & Diversity initiatives and aim to break through traditional boundaries of background and gender to empower the next generation of cybersecurity experts. Our Global Cybersecurity Education Fund is set up to fund cybersecurity education programs and inspire students to pursue careers in technology.
Cyber A.C.E.S. is our free, cybersecurity education program for kids ages 5 to 15. Cyber A.C.E.S. provides the cybersecurity basics students need to have safer online experiences and become good digital citizens. Lessons can be facilitated by anyone, regardless of their knowledge level, with each module tailored to a specific age group. Palo Alto Networks employees also volunteer to deploy lessons to nonprofits and schools.
Our Cyber STARS program addresses racial disparity in technology. It seeks to create opportunities for Black youth ages 5–25 through education, training, mentorship and economic empowerment, with a focus on organizations serving large numbers of Black and brown students.
Our partnership with Girl Scouts of the USA was designed to inspire the next generation of female cybersecurity leaders! Beyond helping to improve online safety and digital citizenship, this national cybersecurity badge program helps girls break through traditional STEM barriers and shows them a future path to exciting, challenging, and well-paying jobs in tech and cybersecurity.
Protecting Your Digital Life is a new program that provides a series of downloadable, self-paced workbooks for individuals of all ages to explore various cybersecurity concepts and best practices at their own pace, without needing an active internet connection.
The Cybersecurity Academy prepares students for successful careers in cybersecurity and technology fields by providing free, comprehensive curriculum to qualified universities, colleges, and high schools. Participation in this program includes materials for faculty-led training, hands-on labs, and other programs and competitions.
We support community involvement and encourage employees to invest their time and monetary resources in causes that matter to them.
Employees donate to eligible nonprofits and schools, and we double their donations! From time to time, we also run special matching programs – when additional funding helps to provide relief from natural disasters and catastrophic events.
For those who give generously with their time, our “Dollars for Doers” program allows employees to have an even greater impact: each hour of volunteer time can direct US$25 to the organization!
Departments and business units enjoy volunteering as team-building, so our volunteer grant program provides a funding allowance to cover expenses for teams of eight or more who wish to make a meaningful difference.
At Palo Alto Networks, our philanthropic focus aims to align our giving with our core competency of cybersecurity as well as our commitment to improve the equity and inclusion of communities most under-represented and underserved. Our investments focus on organizations that provide basic needs, educational enrichment, health services and address social justice for populations aligned with our inclusion and diversity initiatives.
We work hand in hand with our employee network groups (ENGs) to invest in causes that serve to uplift Black, Latinx, Women, Veterans, LGBTQIA+ and individuals with disabilities. Our investments in educational programs are generally focused on advancing STEM skills for youth and young adults.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had devastating impacts around the globe and will leave waves for years, if not decades, to come.
Recognizing that we were about to enter a period of considerable uncertainty , early in the pandemic, Palo Alto Networks established a COVID Relief Fund. Through multiple internal fundraising campaigns and initiatives, employees contributed nearly $1.7 million to the Fund, and after special matching, our company raised more than $5.8 million for colleagues and communities. This money has been used to support local and regional organizations providing pandemic relief and to set up an employee relief fund for those employees experiencing hardship as a result of COVID and other disasters.As a company built on trust, we are committed to being a leader in responsible business practices. Through science-based climate action, investing in our global workforce and communities, and operating with integrity, we are helping to protect our digital way of life. We are pleased to share our FY23 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report summarizing our ESG strategies and achievements during fiscal 2023. The FY23 ESG Report is a demonstration of our commitment to ongoing transparency and engagement with our stakeholders on these important topics.
